Hi all,
I am a M.Sc student from Europe, willing to apply for a couple of deferred admission programs in the US.
I know that, in order to be eligible to deferred admission programs (Stanford, HBS, MIT, Wharton, CBS..) you must have started your master studies right after ending the B.Sc. Although I am currently pursuing the last and second year of my M.Sc, I will likely graduate in October/November/December: I am not late in my studies, it is just that most of the people need to finish their thesis and consequently cannot graduate in July: my uni allows it, and does not require you to enroll in another academic year/pay new taxes, because it is considered as if you graduated in time.
Now, I see that the various deferred admission program have different eligibility criteria:
- Stanford: "You are currently enrolled in a graduate program, which you began immediately following an undergraduate or undergraduate/graduate program."
- HBS: "you must graduate from your program between October 1, 2019 and September 30, 2020.".
- MIT: "graduating or have graduated from an undergraduate degree program during the current academic year".
- Wharton: "The Advance Access Program is designed for innovative and intellectually curious seniors and graduate students in their final year of study".
Now, I really want to apply for the upcoming intake (so with most of the deadlines in April 2020): to me it does not make sense to apply next year, as I will be working full time and I will lose the advantage of the advanced admission.
The problem is that I am not sure if I am eligible (if I plan to graduate in October, am I still eligible?) for Stanford, MIT and Wharton...while for HBS I doubt I am, since it is more specific.... I tried even to ask to admission officers, but unfortunately I could not get a clear answer.
What do you think? Am I eligible?
Thank you!
