Hi,
I'm looking to apply this fall for my MBA. I know that the "why MBA" question is one of the most important in admissions so I'm trying to gauge how viable my goals are and also how effective they would be for admissions.
One of my long-term goals is to explore academia in business. However, I would like to get research experience before I commit. So quite frankly, I am trying to leverage the two years to network with professors and apply for assistant-ship. The career boost/change that comes with the MBA is really plan B. After getting my MBA, my short-term goals are either consulting or product marketing/consumer industries for a few years before applying to PhD programs.
My concern is that it may give off the impression that I'm not utilizing my MBA to its fullest extent, namely placing well in corporate work. My thought was focusing my essay in my interest in consumer industries short-term, but later build that into a pursuit of knowledge for a PhD long-term. Any thoughts or recommendations? Thank you!
