Thanks for sharing all this prideful detail about your profile.

If you are intent on only doing a 1-year MBA, there are not a ton of top-ranked options. Fortunately, there are some good ones. If I were you, I would look at Northwestern (Kellogg), Cornell (Johnson), Duke (Fuqua - Accelerated), Notre Dame (Mendoza), Cambridge (Judge) and Oxford (Said.)

You really do need to ace that GMAT given the level of competition for admission to these programs. Focus intently on that now so you do not have to worry when putting together your application.

Lastly, if you are looking at full-time consulting, the one-year MBA - at least in the US - might not be the best strategy because the internship is usually an important feeder into the full-time role. You will not have that opportunity as a one-year MBA. It won't be impossible to get into the field by any means, but you will need to coordinate with the consulting shops about how you would approach full-time recruiting on your somewhat unusual schedule.

As a starter, I hope that helps. Please reach out to us at Admissionado if you are actively looking to apply and need support services for all components of your application such as your essays, CV and letters of recommendation. Good luck!

Hey MBA2022IITDelhi,

To commence your profile evaluation, I would say that your academic background is quite strong. Your GPA of 8/10 and a GMAT score of 740 not only displays your academic prowess but also opens a lot of opportunities and doors to top business schools for you. Moreover, IIT Delhi is a very prestigious school and its brand name aids in strengthening your profile as the AD COM tends to favour candidates from top schools of each country.

Moving on, extracurricular participation plays an important role in strengthening your applications as B-schools are on the hunt for all-rounder profiles. Seeing your extra-curricular activities, I’d say you have varied endeavors on this end, which portrays your proactive attitude. You have pursued few volunteering projects that showcase your socially responsible side. Also, you have been a member of the Public Policy Project of Parliament which is quite significant, herein you can talk about the duties you performed and what were your major takeaways. All in all, varied skills can contribute towards you being a great future leader which would automatically impress the adcoms.

Now coming to your work experience, 3 years with a brand like Goldman Sachs definitely plays a part in bolstering your profile. Here, talking about the roles and positions you undertook, the teams and projects you led and the impact you created in those positions would help you differentiate yourself from the rest of your competitors. Overall, portray your strong leadership skills as the schools are on the hunt for candidates who fit the description of being a great future leader.

Speaking of your school choices, all of them focus on recruiting from the top 10 UG College of the applicant’s nationality (that you already have) and alongside this the AD COM places a lot of emphasis on International experience. Hence, you can talk about your international exposure as it will showcase your broadened horizons and the ability to succeed and adapt in foreign environments. In case, you don’t have such experience you can always mention how you dealt with your international clients in the work surroundings.

That said, the schools that you are willing to target all fall under the dream category. Due to their stringent admission rates, you stand a chance of 50% of getting into these schools.
However, you can increase your chances of acceptance by focusing on the kind of application you are submitting. Your application is basically what differentiates you from other candidates and highlights your strengths and overshadows your weaknesses.

Also, you need to hedge your bets wisely by targeting a good mix of dream and competitive schools. Here are some school suggestions in the competitive category that you can look at:

COMPETITIVE SCHOOLS: Imperial, WHU, Manheim, Michigan, FSFM, NUS

Keeping all things in perspective, I would suggest you to apply for the upcoming round to leverage the first mover advantage and ensure a higher chance of acceptance. That said,
you can also Book a Free consulting session with one of our consultants who through their expertise can gauge the competitiveness of your profile and help you plan a winning strategy that would boost your chances of acceptance by a minimum of 3x!
