Hi, I am applying to business school( Deferred) by April month. I have my gmat due, but scoring consistently 740-750. But I checked that no school has accpeted any new student from my degree, which has a designation of B.A.(Vocational). Though my compatriots Indians and chinese have a ton of IT and engineering background, would my degree backfire me or would I have advantage over them to differentiate my degree and experience in classroom from other, since that group tend to have an acceptance rate of less than 5%?
Hello
lakshya14,
Statistics such as acceptance rate and average GPA and GMAT/GRE/EA of enrolled students are great to look at to get some solid benchmarking data for the programs you are interested in. However, it is important that you only use these numbers as an initial guide since the entire applicant package matters much more. We work with a lot of deferral applicants and many come from a variety of backgrounds. If you sent over your resume, this would help further:

Rather than worrying about the disadvantages that you feel you have in comparison to your peers, I suggest targeting your attention to making sure your applications are the best they can be.
Successful deferral applicants will have already demonstrated considerable leadership through internships and extracurricular activities, either on or off-campus. Strong candidates also have a clear sense of their career goals.
There is no denying that deferral programs are competitive. This is what makes them a good option for high achievers looking to get a jump on the MBA application process. If your undergrad GPA is as strong as your GMAT, you are likely on the right track.
