Hi,
I started my professional career with a Fortune 500 company (and I did not go to a top-tier college), and then went on to founding a startup.
Now,
first, the problem here is that I don't really understand how credible is that for a B-school? I mean when I am put up against candidates from Fortune 50 companies or MBBs, how strong is the profile of a startup with an annual turnover of approx. $250,000 (pre covid), assuming there were a lot of challenges I overcome, I learnt/grow a lot and had decent accomplishments?
Second, my startup is neither hugely successful nor famous, so how does that show to the adcomms? How do they visualize it's credibility and impact, given the candidates I am up against would be managing thousands and millions of dollars and having amazing career progressions?
Third, how important are my stories and learnings while in the startup journey? Suppose I put them in the strongest way possible, does that account for not having work ex. from a top firm? Will my stories and learnings help me, to atleast look competitive when it comes to work ex.?
Would love some perspectives and thoughts.
