Hello all,
Soliciting some advice from you all regarding MBA applications in India, US, Canada and Europe.
I am currently serving in the Military (Navy) and looking to transition to the Corporate after more than 15 years of military service next year. I have Masters Degrees from IIT Delhi & IIT Bombay (premier Engineering institutes of India) with a CGPA of 9.7 out of 10. I am a technical officer with a varied work experience and have handled different portfolios and led several manufacturing programs and projects in my work space.
I am planning to do a full time MBA from a top tier college either in India or abroad (1yr programs only). I have commenced my GMAT prep and am targeting a score above 700.
I would be 42 by the time I start the program and I know I am probably too old for most regular intakes.
Would be great if you all could guide me as to which colleges I should focus upon in India and abroad and if international military veterans are given any pref in admissions etc. Do I stand a chance in the M7 colleges in US? Or colleges like ISB, IIM A etc in India would be a better bet? And are there any great programs internationally for mid tier/ senior management other than the Sloan program?

I am hoping someone else in this forum can speak to India-based programs specific to your criteria, but I can say that M7 in the US will be a bridge too far. I would say 35 years is the true upper part of the range and even then there are so few at that age. I really would not waste your time.
Have you considered trying to find a job in corporate and doing an Executive MBA program within a year or so? I realize it might be easier to get a "corporate" role coming out of an MBA program, that would be a better fit. Your military/technical officer credentials will no doubt make you very marketable to the workforce. If I were you, I would land something non-military and then go a part-time or executive program. That would seem more realistic than trying to do a full-time MBA program both from an admissions and recruiting standpoint.
I am sure there are a variety of opinions out there, so I'm eager to hear what others have to say.

Hello Bijayanand80,
Thank you for sharing. Military candidates trend older than the average applicant and bring skills and qualities that schools highly desire. Even mid-30's is fairly common here. That said, 42 may be pushing it slightly for a regular full-time program.
What do you hope to do after business school? Learning a bit about your MBA goals would help me better assess what programs you might be a good fit for. If you want a shot at M7 schools in the US, you will want to aim closer to the mid-700s on your GMAT.
