MBA Profile Review

Question

Hi,

I am an Prospective MBA aspirant looking to have my profile reviewed for the Fall 2022 intake (Applications this year)

Nationality : Indian
 Age : 1996 (25)
 Work Experience : 3 years and continuing (since 2018) in Marketing/Sales industry, but looking to switch
 Education experience : Graduated in Bachelor's of Business Administration from Rollins College with 3.41 CGPA / 4.00
 GMAT : Currently studying but have average around 650 in mock exams (Plan to give in July-August or my last attempt in September)
 Schools being considered : Canadian B-Schools, Some in USA/Singapore and Australia.

Apart from this I was also a student athlete through all 4 years in college and have represented my country in the international level.

Request anyone who comes across this post to kindly share your views and how much I should aim for my GMAT, and what schools will fit the bill with such a profile, as I am in the application mode and need to shortlist a lot of schools.

Rrajani : Thanks for posting! The good news with your profile and GMAT is that the Canadian schools are generally less competitive than those in the EU and the US. A GMAT score of 650 or so should make you competitive. Ideally, the closer you can get to a 700 (or even higher), the better. A higher score will definitely take pressure off having to excel in the other components of your background. Do you have any extracurricular activities since graduating from college? It's great that you were a student-athlete but it's important to show continued involvement and an ability to balance work and non-work after graduating, if possible. A few schools that you might want to put on your list: Schulich, Sauder, McGill, Alberta and Ivey. If you do really well on the GMAT, put Rotman on your list though that's very popular and uber competitive. Good luck! Hello Rrajani , If you secure a strong GMAT, Rotman and Ivey could be good choices for Canadian b-schools. Of course, I would also have to know about your post-MBA goals, since they are a key factor in building a target school list. For schools in the US, the top 20 could be within your range if you get into the 700+ range on your GMAT (ideally, around 720 or above for many of the more competitive programs). Hi,

To target top B-schools in the US, you need to have at least a 700 GMAT score since your work experience is less than the 4-5 year average of most programs. However, for Canada and Australia, you can target most of the top B-Schools with a 660+ score as they are not too strict regarding the test score.

It's important to understand that while your test score serves as a good indicator regarding the range of B-school it does not decide the final admission. The presentation of your profile, application essays, and clarity of your goals are more important for the admissions committee.

Here are some of the top B-schools you can target:

Canada - Rotman, McGill, Ivey, Schulich, Queens Smith, UBC Sauder
Australia - AGSM, MBS
Singapore - NUS, NTU, SMU
There is a vast range of programs that can only be narrowed down for the USA depending on your GMAT and post MBA goals.
