Hi. Moving this question to a better sub-forum.

I feel I just recently replied to the question of switching jobs right before the application - it is tricky. You need LOR's and your new boss will not be able to provide anything will your old one be willing to write them? (some schools are easy going about the LOR's and allow them from any professional source but some do not and require that they be from your direct supervisor to be considered). Also, you are likely won't get an LOR from your new boss since you will be informing them that you are leaving right away.

However, I would say do what matters for your career as first priority. You may not even need an MBA.
I would recommend getting your LOR locked in now before you submit and leave and that will address most of your issues

Hi,

Hope you are staying safe.

I need your opinion on this. I want to apply to R1 this year and have been working towards it. Accidentally, I got a decent job offer. I was not expecting this job tbh. I gave the interview because my friend had reached out and now this opportunity looks lucrative. It is with a good brand and for a senior role in my field of interest. I have 2 months notice period, so if I put in my papers now I'll be released only by the deadline of R1. I have been working for 3.3 years at my current company now. Will switching jobs offer hurt my MBA Application?

IMO, if the new job is a step up over what you are currently doing and is aligned with what you will write as your career goal then its ok to change, so long as your recommender does not take it to heart and remains willing to write your reco.
If you are changing only for a better pay, then I would suggest you stick around where you are

Thanks for your valuable feedback, Namita. The new job is a step up into Product Management, which is what I want to pursue post MBA too. Yeah, the reco part is tricky I'm figuring out how things will look like if I quit my current org.
