As i am drafting career goals essays for different schools I have noticed some common things asked like career goals and career progression to date.
Do you think while drafting the essay I have to follow the order in which a question is asked and respond in that order?
For eg. two school ask the same questions but in different ways:
School 1. Describe your career progress to date. What are your short and long term goals and how has your career progress prepared you for your future goals?
School 2. What are your short term and long term goals? How does your career progress to date relate to your goals?
Lets say I answer school 1 first and start with my career progress and then move on and relate that to my goals. Now for school 2, is it necessary to start by presenting my goals and then go back to my career progress or can I get away with using the first essay as my base and modifying it...

As long as it flows, I dont think it matters in what "order" you present it. Present it in whatever order "sounds right" and flows best.

Yeah, I agree that order doesn't matter. The key thing is to pay attention to the question. For example, Columbia has a very forward-looking goals essays. They don't specifically say that they want to hear about your progression up to this point, but you probably need to say a little something about your work experience to tie it in to why you think the school will help you. Other schools have specific steps they'd like covered for progression and then future goals.
