I'm kinda perplexed by the Yale essays. The first essay is this:
Please describe your short- and long-term goals and how your previous experience and an MBA will help you to achieve these goals. 500 words maximum.

Notice it doesn't specify why you want to go to Yale, just why an MBA will help you achive your goals. Do you think talking about Yale in particular is in scope? With 500 words, trying to explain your goals, previous experiences, and why MBA is tough enough without going into details about the Yale program. What have you guys done?

The second essay is open ended:
Please develop a question/topic of your choice and answer it in essay form. Please state the question/topic at the beginning of your essay. 500 words maximum.

Did you guys just reuse an essay from another school or make a new essay so they don't think you were lazy? I'm thinking about tweaking an essay from another school so its not exactly the same but then again, they might see through it :oops:

I'll translate the question for you.

Tell me through introspective and insightful comments what you are interested in doing, and how your current experiences have made you interested in these goals, both in the next few years and ten years from now. I also need to know how you see an MBA, specifically one from Yale, fitting in with your goals.

BTW, have you guys noticed how open ended the Yale apps are? ie. the letter of recommendations have no specific questions,


There are also only 2 essays, one of which is make up your own question. I feel compelled to write the optional essay since I don't think 2 short essays fully represents me like with the other apps.
