Question.. I'm currently working on an essay in regards to how I plan on contributing back to the mba program.
during my undergrad, I served on the president's student advsory council. We were hand picked by the president to serve on the council and were essentially the direct liasons between the student body and the president. We offered guidance to items as small as food in the cafeteria and parking to admissions and alumni donation. It was a great experience, but I'm having trouble articulating this in my essay as an example of how I can contribute...
Obviously the purpose of the council was to represent the student body and better the campus community, but I'm not sure what the correct counterpart in an MBA program would be.
Would it be appropriate to correlate this experience to joining mba clubs? I just do not want to sound to pompous like I'm going to throw in my 2 cents on everything. Thanks!

Uh...... yes.
This is exactly the kind of thing you want to write because it shows WHY you want to be part of XYZ club (just make sure theres some relationship of course - dont say you want to join the Investment Banking Club because you like Student Government) and more importantly, makes it BELIEVABLE while also showing them your previous leadership or teamwork experiences, important to your eventual success at any MBA program.
I promise you a good search on schools websites will find a similar club.

If it is Notre Dame you can do it either as...
while you are there on campus (what you would bring to the table)
or
what you will contribute back later after graduation...
I thought the wording was interesting as one could have thought they were asking for either. I called them to clearify and they said they want essays of both flavors. So you can't go wrong whether you do it the first or the second way... assuming you do it well either way of course.
