Hi, had a strange experience yesterday and I'm wondering if I should even bother applying to any schools or just retake the GMAT. If I decide to retake, I don't know if I have enough time to improve before the end of round three.
Yesterday I took the GMAT for the first time after studying for about 7 weeks 8-10 hours a day (as I made the decision to go to an in-person grad school around the beginning of January) and got a 700 - V47/48, (don't remember exactly which), Q37, and an IR of 4. I am still waiting on the AWA score.
I am extremely confused as I took several practice tests beforehand and the lowest I got in quant was a q42 and my average was closer to 44. Additionally, on all the practice tests I took, I was getting an 8 or a 9 in IR.
While my verbal score is strong and 700 isn't bad overall, do you think it is even worth applying with that low of a quant score? I am planning on going into consulting, and I'm looking to Stern,Cornell, Fuqua, or Mendoza as my main choices.
I am currently finishing a master's online but I'm still going for an in-person MBA due to the networking etc.
Due to personal issues it would be nearly impossible for me to wait a whole year and try then, but I don't know if it makes sense at all to try to take it again in a month and just put on my applications that I am retaking it then.
Apologies for the long post - I'm feeling very blindsided after those subscores and would appreciate any constructive input.
