I am targeting round 1 applications for my second MBA from US.
I have already applied to Kellogg, Ross and NYU Tech MBA (aspirational)
Require suggestion on the realistic to safety schools to apply to. I would prefer a college on east coast for personal reasons.
Here is a short brief of my profile.
GMAT - 700 (Q-48, V-37, IR - 8, AWA - 6)
UG:
Chemical Engg from govt. state college.
GPA - 3.3
PORs - Placement head, health secretary etc.
Post UG work ex: 22 months
As Supply chain analyst at MNC in petrochemical industry.
PG:
MBA from IIM Bangalore
GPA: 2.9
Core member - cultural fest team lead, social club charity event organiser etc.
Internship - strategy consulting (top 5 firms)
Got PPO
Post PG workex: 24 months at one of the top 5 management consulting firm
Strategy consulting (Sales & distribution setup, retail chain expansion, PMO etc.)
Additional responsibility - Hiring captain
Post MBA goal - strategy role in tech- giant, fallback - strategy consulting
Please help me choose the next set of schools to apply in (3-4 more schools).
1. Tepper/Mccombs
2. Emory (one year MBA)
3. Georgetown/Scheller
4. Kelley/Simon
5. Ohio / Notre Dame (One year) - Both schools are 3 hrs away from my family, would prefer them if post MBA job is not impacted much

After earning an MBA from the US, you will have spent more time in the classroom (MBA from IIM B + 2-year MBA in the US) than the overall work experience you have accumulated. It's crucial to ensure that the reasons you provide for pursuing a foreign MBA just two years after completing your PGDM/MBA from a top Indian college are robust and convincing. Criticizing the Indian MBA experience for its perceived lack of global exposure is a common but overused approach that I have encountered. Instead, make your reasons personal and centered on your long-term vision.
I believe that Kellogg, Ross, and NYU Tech MBA programs might be a bit of a stretch with a 700 GMAT score. However, I am very optimistic about the schools further down on your list that you are interested in. How confident are you in the quality of your application? If you feel reasonably confident, consider applying to the five highest-ranked programs where you believe you have the best chance of admission and scholarship opportunities. From your list, Tepper and Emory stand out as my top recommendations due to their strong focus on tech and consulting. I've observed that Tepper, even among the Indian demographic, places more emphasis on the quality of work experience rather than average GMAT scores based on my admits from the last cycle. Other schools could be viable options if they offer you substantial scholarships, although expecting a large scholarship with your current GMAT score might be somewhat ambitious at this stage.
Regarding your strategy consulting work experience, there is significant potential to craft a compelling narrative. Concentrate on the challenges and issues you have encountered throughout your career and how you are driven to address them in the roles you plan to pursue post-MBA.

Go with Tepper, Emory, Georgetown and either McCombs or Kelley. See additional description below:
1. Tepper/Mccombs: pick one. Tepper is a better fit for geographical reasons. It's probably a target school, so it could go either way. McCombs is a fine option as well, but very regional in its focus so probably not a fit.
2. Emory (one year MBA): this is a fine program and despite being in Atlanta recruits well to the East Coast.
3. Georgetown. Great program and very friendly to Indian candidates. Solid option for East Coast recruiting.
4. Kelley/Simon: Kelley is a good choice, but very Midwest focused.
5. Ohio / Notre Dame (One year): both are heavy into Midwest recruiting. It's not impossible to recruit East but this could limit your options.
