Hi,
I am currently taking the Executive Assessment and considering applying for either the Columbia J-Term for next year (January 2025) or INSEAD . I wanted to get a feel for how realistic it would be to pivot to a new field of work one of these programs as it feels like it is still doable despite not being at Columbia in the fall. There seems to be lots of chatter on skipping out on summer J-Term classes to get an internship and completing credits later and was hoping to hear if anyone has first-hand accounts of seeing this or doing this themselves. Background: Currently early 30s and in financial consulting (accounting-based), T-50 US UG 3.3 GPA and would really hope to still be able to do the 18-month program while pivoting into mgmt. consulting or tech in NYC. Fully aware that the ideal move would have been to bang out the GMAT/EA at 27 and do a 2-year FT program for a full pivot at 28/29, but feels like I'm kind of out of that bucket now, so it seems like Columbia J-Term would be the solution.
Alternatively, it sounds like INSEAD has a solid program with an older class and strong exits to mgmt. consulting and a name for itself in NY/US despite being an international program. Would this still be a good option assuming Columbia J-Term is a no-go?
Any advice and first-hand experience would be appreciated - thank you!!!
