Hello
Akshay1997,
I hope you are doing good. Firstly, I understand that the GMAT journey has been challenging for you. However, with your background, experiences, and perseverance, you have a compelling story to present to business schools.
GMAT:Stress Management: Given your repeated attempts and the stress associated with it, consider strategies to manage test anxiety. This might include relaxation techniques, mindfulness practices, or seeking professional guidance to address the psychological aspects of the exam.
Time Management: Focus on improving your pacing and time management during the exam. Practice timed sections, focus on eliminating wrong answer choices quickly, and build stamina by taking full-length practice tests under realistic conditions.
Application Strategy:
Highlight Unique Experience: Emphasize your diverse experience in consulting, incubation center, green technologies, ESG, and startup acceleration. Showcase your impact, achievements, leadership, and potential contributions to the MBA cohort and future career.
Career Goals & Fit: Clearly articulate your short-term and long-term goals, why you're pursuing an MBA now, and how the specific programs align with your aspirations, interests, and skills.
GMAT & Academic Context: Address your GMAT score in the optional essay, providing context, insights into your preparation journey, and emphasizing other strengths in your profile, achievements, and potential.
School Selection:Research & Fit: Conduct thorough research on each program, curriculum, faculty, culture, alumni network, opportunities, and alignment with your goals. Identify specific courses, clubs, events, and resources that resonate with your interests and aspirations.
Networking: Connect with current students, alumni, or professionals from these programs to gain insights, perspectives, advice, and understand the culture, opportunities, challenges, and experiences.
Application Strategy: Develop a tailored application strategy for each program, focusing on showcasing alignment, fit, contributions, aspirations, and potential value to the community.
Jan-2025 Intake & MIM:Age Consideration: Evaluate the age factor and alignment with your goals. Consider the program structure, curriculum, opportunities, post-MIM career goals, and potential challenges associated with age during and after the program.
Career Goals & Timing: Reflect on your short-term and long-term goals, how the MIM aligns with your aspirations, and the timeline for achieving your goals. Evaluate the trade-offs, opportunities, and challenges associated with pursuing an MIM at this stage.
Remember, setbacks and challenges are part of the journey. Your experiences, growth, perseverance, and determination will guide you forward.
Best of luck with your GMAT preparation, applications, and future endeavors!

Background:
Chemical Engineer (Manipal University Jaipur graduate with a 7.14 CGPA), 26 year old
Work Experience: Currently, I have accumulated 2 years and 2 months of professional experience as a consultant at a boutique consultancy and engineering firm in India. During my time at the firm, my role extended beyond technical consultation. I actively participated in the structuring of the in-house Incubation Center, where I had the opportunity to accelerate startups and manage the distribution of government funding to those with strong ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) scores. Additionally, I engaged with cutting-edge technologies like green hydrogen and advised firms on the establishment of electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facilities. My responsibilities also included establishing a network for angel investors and top STEM researchers in India, aimed at catalyzing research projects into early-phase startups.
I quit my job in october to focus on my GMAT prep. The prep didn't workout though. GMAT Experience: I have given GMAT 4 times now (570 [about an year ago]-630 [about 5 months ago]-610 [about 4 months ago]-620 [yesterday]) and I have hit a personal high at 630 (Q45V31). My most recent GMAT was yesterday with 620 (Q47V28). I have scored close to 680-690 (Q46-47 V35-38 in manhattan mocks) and scored 730-750 (Official mocks) but for some reason I go fail miserably in the test. I have booked my last GMAT for the 29th Jan and just plan to work on timing myself correctly. I find myself running out of time very frequently in the paper. Maybe it is the stress of everything riding on this paper. I have done every other course available (TTP,
MAGOOSH, JAMBOREE,
GMATWHIZ) but nothing seems to work for me. I am bad mouthing any of these courses (these are good courses) but I am just explaining my situation.
I wish to apply for a few programs with my current score (Tier 2-Tier 3 colleges) in Europe and secure an admission. I know this might not be a good enough reason but currently the job market in India is not doing so well and staying here has stagnated my growth tremendously. I hope my GMAT on 29-jan goes well but honestly I am discouraged and not very optimistic at the moment. So I am planning to apply for Fall 2024 intake. In case my GMAT goes well, I can also look into applying for Jan-2025 intake (although I am aware that the number of courses offered is significantly fewer and my slim chances are not aided). If I do plan for the Jan-2025 intake, I will work in in India and increase my work experience close to 3 year 1 month
Any suggestions are welcome. I plan on applying to the following programs:
Munich Business School
Mannheim Business School
WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management
ESB Business School
Any further recommendations are welcome both advice for my GMAT and/or suggestions for colleges. I would also appreciate if anyone can comment on applying for Jan intake. I was thinking of an MIM but I believe I will be too old getting into it and too old getting out of it.
Any information is helpful.
