I've heard of getting Recommendation Letters from alumni but for your application but would it help me to get one from a current student? This is for UCLA Anderson, I was searching the BW threads and found a student ambassador that said rec letters from current students could help on the waitlist, would it help for my application as well? Will they even accept them? I applied for Rd 2 so I still have a month until the decision date as I interviewed near the end of the deadline for Rd 2's. UCLA is definitely my top choice so I want to do everything I can since my numbers aren't that great compared to the averages.

Does that student know you well and for an extended period of time? I think that could be a great thing, since he can vouch of how great of a fit you would at UCLA and how your strengths fit well with the school's program

Yeah, he's one of my best friends, I've known him since elementary school. Just talked to him about it, he's going to find out if they'll even take them for applicants or if you have to be on the waitlist for them to accept them.

Then I think if your 2nd LOR is from current employer who can vouch for your work and job related growth and responsibilities they would supplement each other nicely. But def. get a second opinion.

I don't think I clarified enough, I've already turned in my application with two recs. I just read about how they accept new letters for people on the waitlist so I wasn't sure if they would accept them for people who have already turned in their apps and are pending decisions.

I say do it as long as your friend says all the right things. Such as showing how well you would fit in with the program. It really can't hurt; I only see an upside to this. Just my 2 cents..
