Do i have to take the TOEFL?

Question

I come from an Asian country where English is only a second language.
However, the medium of language of my pre-school, grade school, high school and undergraduate university is english. for 16 years, english. we even speak english at home.

can i just get a letter from my schools or do i have to take the toefl? please, help! anyone.. you can send me a PM if you want. thanks

I do not think that there is a general answer to your question. U should send an email directly to the adcom of Bschool u will apply for.

Note also that, if your english is already good, u would be able to pass the 100 point barrier without too much troubles

Generally speaking, if you completed your degree in English, they don't require TOEFL. However, each school is different, and you should reach out to each one directly.

I'm Asian too, Indian to be precise. I'm going through the same dilema now. I'm leaning towards giving the TOEFL for two reasons:

1. To get a TOEFL waiver, you have to contact each university individually. It'll probably be a huge pain in the a%$. 

2. Since my (and your) medium of instruction has always been English, we should'nt ( note:  SHOULDN'T,  not  WILL NOT) have a problem with the TOEFL. 

But then again, I'm still a humble applicant. So my advice should be taken with a pinch (ok...LOTS) of salt!

If you did OK in GMAT verbal, then TOEFL should be easy.

having seen the situation venky found himself in this year, I would be tempted to just do the TOEFL now if I were you.

Unless you are aware of all the schools you are considering and can contact them, it makes sense. The last thing you want is to be caught having to take the TOEFL in amongst the main part of applications.

It sounds kind of silly, but if you worry you may need the TOEFL, it is almost likely that you will need it.

I would suggest ..... Do the TOEFL and get it out of the way. It is damn easy ..... so don't worry. There will be hundred other things that will be worth your worry but seriously TOEFL is not one of them

From First hand experience ..... Give the TOEFL its no big deal 

16 years of education in English medium...cool

You can even schedule it one week down the line just walk in and give it and ace it if you want Its really no big deal
