I think you must let your daughter do all the work. How long can you be doing your kids work ? I think the best thing to do is to let them understand what the real world out there is like. Let them get hurt, beaten up, and get up and fight. Now, that's what you should be doing. I am unable to understand how as a father, you can help her in her ISB admissions ?? It's impossible. Relax. Let her figure things herself on her own.

So reword the CV to highlight any contributions that can be showcased as leadership?

The application may highlight the team leadership roles /contribution to the team.

All the Best.

Hi,

My daughter is planning on doing her MBA from ISB in 2026. She has 2 years of work experience from JP Morgan. She works as a Software Engineer and has graduated from Manipal University with a degree in Computer Science.

She has a 9/10 CGPA and very good grades in school. The problem is that she does not have any extra curriculars or stand out pointers that she can put in her resume. She has mostly worked in tech and does not have any business experience.

Can you please help us with our application. I really want to know what we can do to make her profile stand out. It is her dream to get into ISB and as a father I am willing to do anything to help her.
Hi DushyantRed,

Your daughter already has a strong foundation for her candidacy at ISB with a 9/10 CGPA, a Computer Science degree and experience as a Software Engineer at JP Morgan. Even without formal business experience, she can stand out by demonstrating leadership and quantifiable impact at work - whether through process improvements, efficiency gains, improved timelines, or cost savings.

To strengthen her application, I’d encourage her to aim for a GMAT score of 685 or higher. More importantly, she should focus on crafting an authentic, compelling narrative. Her application should clearly articulate her career goals, show how her past experiences have shaped those goals, and explain the specific skills or exposure she hopes to gain from an MBA. With focused effort and a clear story, she’ll be in a strong position for ISB.

You don't need to be worried about not having any flashy extracurriculars; schools don't always expect them. Instead, she should reflect on any personal interests or passions outside work and show consistent, meaningful involvement in them.

Happy to help further as she prepares. Feel free to book a free call with our MBA experts for a more detailed discussion. You can also contact us directly at [email protected] or +91-7780769732.
