Over the years, I have reviewed essays
with impressive stories, strong achievements, and meaningful experiences, but poor organization makes them difficult to follow. When events jump back and forth in time, even the best stories can lose their impact.Admissions committees read hundreds of essays, often in a very short time. If your essay lacks flow, the reader may miss the significance of your experiences.Instead, present your story in a logical sequence. When you narrate events in chronological order, the flow becomes smoother, the message clearer, and the reader can follow your journey without effort. For example:❌ “Last year I led a major project... During my college days, I also founded a club...”✅ “During college, I founded a club... Later, I led a major project...”A clear timeline also helps you highlight growth and continuity. The reader sees how your early experiences shaped your choices, how each step built on the previous one, and how your journey naturally unfolded. Without chronology, those important connections can get lost.Want your MBA essay to flow smoothly and keep the AdCom engaged from start to finish? Here’s how:
