Greetings all,

I am currently in the process of studying for the GMAT. On practice runs, I scored from 625-690. I will be taking the Vertias prep course next month. If i do slightly better say 700, what are my chances at getting into a B-School such as Stern,Georgetown or Darden.

Background:
Age: 31/ male
Profession: Senior IT Principal at Consulting firm
Exp: 8 yrs IT experience,project management (with 2 years consulting in Japan)
Lang: 3 fluent spoken
Undergrad: MIS B.S Degree

I'd see no immediate reason to exclude any of the schools you list.

At the same time, the way you portray your profile (and I say this respectfully) makes it seem rather "pedestrian". Why I mean by that is that the way you are describing yourself makes you sound pretty much "par for the course". How is a 31 year old IT consultant with an MIS degree different from everyone else?

Think about what really distinguishes you from the pack - especially the thousands of other IT folk who want out. You don't mention a GPA for your undergrad, and that can be important. Sadly, it doesn't much matter that you are 31 and it was 10-14 years ago - they still care. A 700 becomes more important if your GPA is low. And in general, remember with GMAT scores - they can keep you out, but they can't get you in.

The japanese consulting is interesting, I'd play that up a bit. Other things of note:

1) You haven't talked about your extracurricular's at all. Got any? Are they interesting? Do you have any leadership roles?

2) You don't mention your post MBA goals. Are these clear and concise? Can you put them to paper well?

No offense, but if you happen to be an Indian male then you had better plan on scoring a 710+ on the GMAT.

Indian male w/710 = Caucasian male w/670 = Black female w/620 @ Georgetown
