One pattern I've seen among MBA applicants is that they often treat every part of the application as a separate task, first the resume, then the essays, then the recommendations.
In reality, the strongest applications are built around one clear story.
Before you spend hours drafting essays, take some time to think about the bigger picture:
1. What are the defining moments in your career?
2. What impact have you made?
3. Why is now the right time for an MBA?
4. Where do you want to be after graduation?
Once those answers are clear, writing essays becomes easier, your resume highlights the right experiences, and your recommenders can reinforce the same themes.
A little planning at the beginning can save a lot of rewriting later.
