Applying to the Tuck School of Business this year? Here's a quick look at what Tuck looks for in its applicants and the key components of the MBA application.
Known for its small, tight-knit student community, the Tuck Business School seeks applicants who are:
Smart - You possess strong intellectual ability and are curious to learn new perspectives and skills
Accomplished - You have made meaningful and progressive impact both professionally and personally
Aware - You have a clear understanding of your values and motivations, articulate ambitious yet realistic goals, and connect your experiences to your future aspirations.
Encouraging – You are supportive of your peers, compassionate, can build trusted relations, and respectfully challenge others
To evaluate these qualities, Tuck's MBA application comprises the following key components:
1) Application Form: Provide your personal, academic, and professional background, giving the admissions committee essential context for your application.
2) Short-Term and Long-Term Goals: In 300 characters or less, share your plans immediately after you graduate and a few years down the line.
3) GMAT/GRE Test Scores: Tuck accepts both GMAT and GRE scores, including online and test-centre formats. Applicants with strong quantitative and analytical backgrounds may also request a test waiver.
4) English Language Proficiency: You can choose between giving the Duolingo English Test (DET), IELTS, Pearson Test, or TOEFL.
5) Education Information: List details of your academic history, including degrees, coursework, and any additional educational qualifications.
6) Academic Transcripts
7) Employment History: Share your career progression, responsibilities, achievements, remuneration, and professional growth with your last four employers post-undergrad
8) Resume: Submit a one-page resume highlighting your academic, professional, leadership, and extracurricular experiences.
9) Essays: Answer three 2,000-character essayson your career goals and why Tuck, your individuality and how you'll contribute to the Tuck community, and a time you helped someone through a difficult situation and what you learned. An optional 2,000-character essay may be used to explain any gaps or extenuating circumstances.
10) LORs: Submit 2 references, each answering the GMAC’s Common Letter of Recommendation questions. Choose a recommender who is well-acquainted with you and your work.
11) Application Fee: Pay a non-refundable application fee of USD 250. Fee waivers are available for eligible applicants.
