Hi tania468m

  • Overall, we would consider this a credible IIMA PGPX profile. Your 8 years of experience is almost exactly in the program’s sweet spot, with the current class averaging 7.5 years. Project management, prior BA experience, global-client exposure and people leadership all fit what IIMA explicitly looks for in terms of career progression, quality of experience and management responsibility.
  • Your 75% in 10th and 70% in 12th are weaknesses, but they should not become the centre of your concern. PGPX does not prescribe a minimum bachelor’s score, though IIMA does consider academic preparedness and overall academic history. At your experience level, strong professional progression and a good GMAT can do much more to shape the decision than school marks from many years ago.
  • We would target 665+ on the current GMAT, with 675-685 being a very strong range for your profile. The 2026-27 PGPX class averaged 652 on GMAT Focus, so 665+ would put you above the recent cohort average and help offset the weaker school academics. IIMA itself does not publish a cutoff and advises applicants to aim for at least the 70th-75th percentile in both Quant and Verbal.
  • The bigger admissions risk is actually profile commonality rather than academics. An ECE engineer moving through BA and project-management roles in a major IT company is a familiar PGPX pool. Your application therefore needs to quantify scale: team size, project value, geographies handled, senior stakeholders influenced, business outcomes delivered, crises resolved and promotions earned. PMP, CSM and Six Sigma are supportive, but they will not differentiate you nearly as much as evidence of leadership and measurable impact.
  • The authored book can become a useful differentiator if it reflects genuine expertise, thought leadership or sustained personal initiative. Combined with strong career progression and a 665-685 GMAT, we would view IIMA PGPX as a realistic target. The next priority should be sharpening your post-PGPX goal so that the move from project management into your intended next level of leadership feels necessary and credible.
