Once upon a time I looked into summer school term 2 (July~Aug) at UW and decided not to go for various reasons.

1. I don't want to pay an extra $2K for a course that I can get for free (part of the full time tuition) in the fall.

2. Why take on all the extra stress a few weeks before the real stress begins.

3. With some self discipline, I know at some point I can preview a text or software on my own. Currently using MBAmath and will pick up the pace once work finishes next month.

4. It's summer for crying out loud!

I think that you can prepare yourself enough through reading books and newspapers/magazines. There is no need to take a class this summer. I would say enjoy the summer unwind and lesiurely read.

Slackers ... all of you! JayNayak and I are already enrolled and taking classes at UNC: Quantitative Analysis (i.e. Stats) and Financial Accounting. In a couple weeks we start Finance and Microecon.

I'd rather be earning money or lounging at the beach, but I'm glad I did UNC's Analytical Skills Workshops. I definitely need it to get back in the swing of being a full time student. It's also been invaluable for settling in to a new town (getting the moving kinks out), and getting to know my classmates. I think I'm gonna enjoy business school.

My advice to all of you: get your move done at least two weeks before orientation starts. You just won't have time - or won't want to - once school starts. Take me for instance: I show up in Chapel Hill on June 5, the start day on my signed lease, only to discover that the lease of the previous tenants in my apartment gave them occupancy until June 15. Classes started June 7. As a result I've only just started the process of moving in, when I thought I'd be done by now. Its no big deal right now, but Im very thankful Im not dealing with this in August.
