Emory - Recommendation Question

Question

Hi -- I know a bunch on this board are applying to Goizueta, so hopefully someone will be able to answer this question:

The round one deadline is November 1st. All materials must be received by this date in order for the application to be considered complete. However, the recommenders do not get sent the link to fill out their form until AFTER I submit my application.

Does that mean that if I submit the application on October 31st, they will only have a few hours to fill it out? Or is just submitting the names of the reccomenders enough and there is a grace period?

Anyone know?

Yes, they will need to fill out the recs before the 1st in order for the app to be considered a R1 app. However, if I am not mistaken, Goizueta is rolling, and the deadlines only serve to guarantee you a notification date. Meaning, if your recommender submits after R1, you may get notification for interview or a decision at any time, but since you are a R2 app they have the right to notify by that R2 notification deadline.

djhouse is correct here. He is definitely a good source for info on Emory, as he went through the process last year with them. I spoke with admissions regarding this as well, if you want to have your application considered complete by Nov. 1st, the recommenders have to have submitted their forms. I found that very frustrating, but have taken an approach I think will work fine. I decided to download the recommendation forms and send them to my recommenders letting them know the details of the situation. That way, they can put together all of the documentation they need, then copy and paste into the online forms when they get them. 

Also, note that you have to also complete the interview prior to Nov. 1st to be considered for the early admissions notice by December 15th.

Could you please let me know how does this hold for international applicants. I had requested for an offcampus interview a month back and dates are in december. I guees I need to wait more before I hear back from the admissions commitee
