Need help with words: "small specialized consulting firm"

How can you otherwise call a small industry-specialized consulting company? Would a "boutique consulting firm" do? Is there a generally accepted equivalent?

around here they say "boutique" when they don't mean "giant firm." I think boutique was what they said in the vault guides.

what about a small tech company, non-startup? boutique software firm? somehow that just doesn't sound right LOL.

I've never seen boutique used outside of consulting and banking. "Niche" might be more appropriate in this case...especially if you focus on a specific market. Otherwise, small is probably sufficient.

well, in the real estate industry, they use "boutique" for small/specialized hotel chains.

I don't know if that helps.
