I was accepted at both UNC and DUKE with a 690 GMAT. I retook it recently and increased it to 740. I notified both schools and asked to be reconsidered for scholarships. Duke immediately responded with enough money to overcome my in state tuition at UNC. UNC wants to drag this out over the summer. Since I am in state, with what Duke offered being used as an indicator, it would not take much more money at UNC to have a full free ride, and that intrigues me. However, I don't feel like that is going to happen or else they would have responded. I dont really want to play the "duke offered me this, now what can you do for me?" card. My deposits are coming due quite soon and I need to make a decision. I have a strong biotech/pharma background and would like move into the same industry after graduation, possibly in a MC role. I feel like its an easy "go to Duke!" but I wanted to check with the experts first....

I would choose Duke. Slightly better regarded overall- and apparently they have a kick-a$$ HSM program which is probably what you are looking at. I dont know much about UNC.

I voted Duke. That name will carry across the country more than UNC (in case you ever wanted to work in the northeast or west coast). The money issue seems pretty minor. I assume that the Duke scholarship will pay all but $20K or so in tuition. Even if UNC offered a full scholarship, I would still recommend Duke.
