How to Condense Transcripts with too large a file size?

Question

I pdfed my transcripts at work, and the 5 pages are 10 megabites. they can be loaded as a word file, through being converted as a jpg as well.

But how do i get the size drastically down?

probably have to rescan at a lower resolution. I was running into this issue and did a lot of trial and error

That's weird. I've got 6 pages of transcripts and it comes to ~450 kB.

I scanned mine to jpg, then converted to pdf. You might want to reduce the quality of the scan to reduce size.

What converting program did you use?
Adobe Acrobat Professional has an option for reducing PDF size. 
Its in menu 'Advanced' -> 'PDF Optimizer'. You can play with the settings a bit to get a desired quality. I reduced my files to abt 500K. Text is readable, but images became somewhat blurry.

I had a hard time with this myself. It doesn't help that my school uses tiny, tiny font for the grades. I got my 2 page transcript to fit under 500kb and it was just barely legible.

If someone else has a more foolproof method to compress, please post it.

I mean this is 2008. I think they can handle at least 1 MB files. jeeeeez
