Question about my CBS application:
I am in the situation where my former boss is a CBS alum, but never worked directly with him (I am in consulting so I was often out of town working on different assignments) - though have a good idea of my skills and accomplishments within the firm and wrote my last yearly review. About 6 months ago I was recruited to join a different functional area within the same firm, and now have a GREAT relationship with my new boss, and she has gone out of her way to say that she would be happy to write a b-school rec for me. Btw, no hard feelings from the old boss about my transfer.
So what you do all think, good rec from a CBS alum or a great rec from a non-alum?
I don't want to do both b/c I want my other rec to be from my manager from my last job.

Definitely go with the GREAT rec from the non-alum. These schools get so flooded with people that know alums that they don't really care either way. If this other person is willing to do a great job writing a great rec definitely go with them.

Fully agree, no doubt in my mind about that one (if it is truly the case that one rec will be way better than the other)
