My recommender asked me how he should answer this question:
"Where do you think the applicant will be in 5/10 yrs and why?"
Should his answer be on similar lines as mine? or should he answer this on what he thinks I'll be working on?
I should show him my goals essay so that he knows what I'm aiming for right?

Don't Over THINK IT. Just let your recommender answer honestly.. Basicly as long as he says something besides living in a dumpster, it's gonna be okay. I definitely think his answer should not be the same as yours, unless it is something like "from talking with him/her, I see his interesting in XXX, and I feel he would have a solid career in XXX."
You really should not be working that closely with your recommenders.

Hm, i took a slightly different approach. I shared what my goals were with my recommenders, and in detail with at least one of them. As a result, i believe that they will line up their answer to that question with my goals. I think that if the two answers really diverge, that may throw up some flags, no ?
