I have 4+ years of exp in one company
and then moved to a different company but was here only for 4 months..
I got married so had to move

Is it better to just mention the first company and skip the other?
or mention both the companies..and somewhere in the essay explain why I left ???

Please advice !!

Of course you should mention the 4 months. It's understandable that you won't base your essay on this work experience since you were there for such a short period. However, if you leave it out you will have a gap in resume, which doesn't look good. You might want to address why you were at the company for such a short period of time in the optional essay or if it comes up during the interview.

Definitely document it correctly in your resume. Is this four months your last job or your one prior to the four years of experience? If before, I wouldn't suggest using an essay to explain the 4 months. If you are interviewed by an adcom and they ask about it, you can tell them, but I wouldn't think this would affect your overall application negatively.
