Hi guys, as I'm wrapping up my application seasonat 0/3 for the schools I applied to, I'm beginning to rethink my career path since undergrad. I went into a management training program at a mortgage/consumer lending company that went under in 2009, and am now a loan officer at a local mortgage company. With an undergrad degree in business, I really want to go into finance/investment banking, but am wondering if I made the wrong career choice and should try to switch jobs into something related before I apply again. For some reason I get the impression that a background as a loan officer isn't really what adcoms are looking for. Any advice?

If you have a job lined up and you want to make the switch, do it! There is nothing wrong in doing what you want to do, and if you play it right with adcom, you're broader knowledge base will be a plus.

You need to look at your responsibilities, development and progression in those jobs. The thing you do doesn't really matter at all - it is what you have done in it.
There is nothing wrong with changing before, but it isn't the job per se that will be the problem. Most probably the way that you are expressing it.
