I know being able to clearly express your career goals is an essential part of the b-school essay. I just wanted to know if this is something that is actually feasible and not something an adcom would roll their eyes at.
I worked in real estate development for about three years (mid-size private firm in Los Angeles), and now I'm at an ivy getting my MA in City Planning. I've thought about it for awhile, and what really interests me most is going to work for a non-profit or community/social/community focused VC fund. My logic is that I would use what I'm learning now in City Planning to help me understand the "soft" factors of development, and then the MBA to help me with the finance/management skills etc.
I've had a hard time admitting to myself that this is what I want to do, especially because of all the talk about how impossible it is to break into VC, but so it goes. Is this a reasonable goal, or should I focus on something a bit more realistic for my essays?
