Dear everyone,
first of all thanks for taking the time to read this and for any advice offered. It really is greatly appreciated.
I have two main questions from which several sub-questions arise:
1. Should I pursue a Master in Management after my undergraduate is finished or an MBA at a later point?
2. I have a somewhat unique background: I needed 2 years longer for my undergraduate degree than normally (family/personal reasons) – to what degree will this damage my applications regarding MBA’s or MiMs?
Bit of background: I am really torn between what to do with my career/life at this point. I am currently a junior at an Ivy-League type school but have needed two years out in between due to personal/family-related issues. I have done a few internships and have a job-offer lined up already which I am willing to accept. The problem now is that due to my long undergraduate degree, I am unsure of whether to pursue a MiM now so to make my timeline look a bit better or alternatively do a MBA a couple of years down the road. As explained above I fear that the two extra years will damage my application for either choice. The additional dimension coming into play is that I personally have no preference: I think I would feel comfortable in both programs and this is really all about which one makes more sense. Further, since I already have an employment opportunity I am willing to take, I would appreciate a program which might be a bit more relaxed. I also have quite some work experience (roughly 8-9 months) under my belt due to taking 2 years out as well as interning most summers during college. Regarding MiM’s I have been looking at the HEC and LBS; MBAs I have researched are Insead and the typical Ivy League ones. I don't really want to pursue both and a PhD is not what interests me either at the moment. Any advice here on what to do would be greatly appreciated :/
P.S.: I hope this fits into this subforum; it didn't seem to fit anywhere else.
