Managing and Leading mean the same thing. All managers lead, and all leaders have to manage.

Not the exact quote from the book, but the same message. The book has some good insights, although the author is always bashing the MBA programs and the ability of the programs to develop good managers.

Do you think the bashing is justified? Why do you think the author is always bashing the MBA programs?

I am waiting on my copy.

Seems to be a trend. B-schools are not perfect nor are the graduates, but I am sure there is one B-school that got it right and one MBA graduate who got it right if these folks want to speak in absolutes. I am getting more and more tired of people who think that if they bash MBA, they are immediately above by the mere fact of bashing. Critics, there are so few qualifications to become one.

true bb. It is so easy to criticize the b-schools. The author here is basically saying that b-school students act as if they are apart of an elite class, who go into companies and expect to be able to lead, but in actuality they do not possess what it takes to be a competent manager.

I don't necessarily disagree with what the author is saying, but it seems he is so far to one side of the argument that he doesn't consider the positives that actually do come from an MBA degree. But it is still an interesting read nonetheless.
