How things are going in your area?

It has been months that we are experiencing this Covid-19 pandemic. And it is has been really tough in all aspects.

There are few cities here in my country that were put on another lockdown due to another surge of infection in their locals. My city on the other hand is very strict with wearing protective masks and shields and curfews right until now when we only getting fewer cases every day.

We've been in a light lockdown for November, with indoor dining and gyms closed, and generally contact between more than two households limited, but takeout and delivery are still allowed and so it's mostly bars and clubs that are now getting troubles. Other than that our economy is just doing its thing at the moment, but we're probably getting messed up in the future.

As for numbers, well, it looks like about three weeks into this light lockdown the numbers are plateauing, but I have decent hopes that Christmas will be open enough so that our traditional Christmas BBQ can be done.

Not that there's anything to be done about it. Police some days ago used water cannons against a protest because they were refusing to wear masks. Not directly, but to soak the protestors in November weather. Guess who's getting sick from not wearing a mask!

Hang in there. I'm sure in due time, we will all get past this pandemic as vaccines are now nearing the final phase before distribution. Hopefully, in the early months of next year, it will be available globally.

My dad is a young (43), non-smoking, healthy man, yet right now he is fighting for his life in the ICU due to a severe pneumonia caused by COVID19.
He is sedated and intubated, and he's being treated with a medicine in clinical trials because the standard treatment is not working. Remember there's no drug that specifically targets SARS-CoV-2.
He probably got infected at work, as he is a doctor. He was not in charge of COVID19 positive patients, so he very likely was in contact with an asymptomatic person or someone whose virus was still in the incubation period.
