I've been thinking about going to the 2013 Caesars MBA Poker Championship. I've been trying to do some research on the event and haven't found nearly as much information on it as I thought I would. A few forum posts here and there, but none that seem to be coming from attendees.
There's a Bloomberg article on the tournament that was written in January 2010, it's the only thing I've found that offers up any concrete details.
(I can't post URLs, but if you google 'bloomberg mba poker championship' the article is the first result)
The article mentions that "Harrah’s now hires about 20 business-school graduates each year and has found 15-20 employees directly from the tournament." Given that this article was written before the 5th year of the tournament, that means they are only hiring ~4-5 people per year from an event running between 700-1200 people.
In previous years the sponsors weren't too shabby, but the 2013 sponsors are Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada, Keep Memory Alive, Gallery Nightclub, and Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Saloon.
Considering ~0.5% job placement and no other worthy sponsor organizations, it seems like the only reason to go is potential tournament winnings.
Has anyone been? Was it worthwhile?
