I don't know why this bugs me so much, but I am super-annoyed with all of these pre-orientation activities that are going on.
I've been invited to a zillion different weekends -- weekend for women, weekend for people in finance, weekend for people with shaved poodles -- and seriously, I JUST DON'T HAVE TIME OR MONEY!!

I haven't even attended admit weekend. And all I'm gonna attend is the get - togethers with admits from my country (if I happen to be in town when they take place). That involves 6 people at the most.
I'll just show up at school late in the game (.e. after the pre-MBA and analytics courses to which I did not get invited) and witness how everyone's already met everyone else through all these events while I don't know anyone yet. I'll have to "charm" my way through into the community. The problem is I lack any charm.
On the other hand, you are girl, so you should be fine. Just don't mention you are kinda married and you'll be "networked" into exhaustion.

Yeah I'm not attending anything until I show up in late August, just don't see the point in it. I guess for people that are really into steroid-scale networking then it's good to get a jump on things, but I'm fine w/ meeting my classmates on the first day of class, not going to let b-school completely take over my life (at least until it actually starts).
