If we have to career shift to management consulting, is there guidelines of what to achieve during your mBA and before the intervioew so that you are able to showcase some valueable contributions i.e. sell yourself @ consuilting interviews????

If you're transitioning into consulting you should at least do the following while in school:
1. Read the Wall Street Journal every day. You should be able to have a casual conversation about any major industry. So if you don't know what's going on in Pharma, or what the latest story on auto unions is all about you're not going to sound very in-the-know.
2. Spend a ton of time practicing case interviewing.
3. Participate in case competitions
4. Don't just focus on strategy and management classes, take plenty of accounting and finance classes too.
5. Take any opportunity to practice speaking in public and giving presentations. Get feedback, and continuously improve your presentation skills.
There are a lot of ex-consultants at school and they don't necessarily have great presentation skills. If you can really develop in this area you can really help your chances of landing that job.

In my opinion, Toastmasters is a great place to develop these skills.
