I'm unfamiliar with job applications post-mba or even for internships after the first year. Do they ask for your GMAT score?

some companies ask for GMAT scores in their application forms. It`s not a dealbreaker, but certainly helps to get you past a potential `filter` point.

Some cos require you to fill extensive forms online when applying. Those forms include typical stuff such as name, b-school grades (if they can be disclosed), undergrad GPA, etc., but at times may include GMAT, SATs, high school attended and degree obtained, and all sorts of stuff. Others just ask for a resume but then ask for other information during the interview(s).

The introduction leads to the following: even if you are almost sure they (employers) won't care about your AWA, wouldn't you want the peace of mind of knowing you did fine? You'd hate to see it come haunt you later on, even if it's only on your mind and they are not really caring about it.

So I'm planning on retaking GMAT before school starts. What is the value in AWA in terms of job applications. Do any recruiters actually ask for the AWA.. in which case could I not use my first AWA (5.5).?

I really cannot imagine any circumstance where not doing the AWA will cause a problem...you already got a 5.5 previsouly, so when asked you can always tell them that. If they ask for a specific test date, and for example your highest score is this time at 650 and 0.0 AWA, you can always say well i skipped it because XYZ, and i took AWA last time and got 5.5. I'm sure they interviewer will just be like ok and move on.

Sure the interviewer might do that if you get to that point.

Probably won`t bother resitting the GMAT now... Just don`t have the time to study.. Moving countries, apartment hunting has sucked up the last 3 weeks. Unpacking, and arranging medical treatment for my ankle is taking up more time, still have to schedule a trip to Macau to get my visa stamped.
Furthermore, have to start hunting for a domestic helper to help the wife look after the kids when I start studying, making sure she babysits and cleans to the style we want and lastly, starting Mandarin lessons in a weeks time!!!
