Don't even worry yourself about cases yet guys. Trust me you will get more than enough of that next year (with some luck). Its even too early for first year students to worry about that. From what I have heard from 2nd years and folks at the big three, the consulting firms and the consulting clubs at your school will get you prepared to the best of your ability well in advance. Plus you do cases all the time for most of your classes.

I thought the same before recruiting started, but as it turns out consulting interview cases are quite different from school cases.

My advice (based on the method classmates who got into big 3 companies followed):

- Read Case in point (the intro).
- Do case prep with classmates, clubs, school resources, etc.

I second what Lepium said, I would also advise to read as many cases as you can (interview cases like in Case in Point, HBS-like cases have nothing to do with MC cases) and read business news and success stories.

You need the framework but you also need as many real-world numbers (as hanging point for your reasoning) as you can. And you need them on top of your mind, this is achieved only if you read about businesses in your daily life.

I started case prepping with a classmate yesterday. Cases in class have nothing to do with consulting cases as lepium says. This year will be tough. I want to get 40 to 50 cases under my belt, so you better get started about now...

Definitely dont be later. Application volumes are up like crazy. Let me know if you're planning to visit again. The fall is so beautiful up here. But it starts to get chilly. Might have been the last run through the woods today...
