For those with SOs or family in other states/provinces, do you plan on visiting your significant others on weekends (other than during holidays)? A friend of mine who graduated from CBS made a point to visit his girlfriend back home at least once a month (she reciprocated by doing the same during the same month). However, with heavy workloads, networking opportunities and financial limitations, how feasible is it to do so? Any comments?

I have the same concern. I have a close friend at Fuqua who was able to get away at least one weekend a month and fly up to Boston to visit her (douchebag) boyfriend. So it's definitely possible.

DB boyfriend, by the way, dumped her later and is now about to start a clerkship with Justice Stevens.

Flying up once a month will definitely hurt personal finances... ouch.

If it's that close, you might be surprised with some of the discount airlines... we've found Atlanta-Raleigh flights for $150 a pop. Between the two of us, twice a month, it's doable.

The honest answer is you can try to make it work but I think almost all long distance relationships end by the start of the Winter semester. The few people I know making it work have very strong reasons for being apart like both are in business school far apart, since you have similar lifestyles it can work. However, if they have plenty of free-time and you struggle to dedicate an hour for a phone call every few days then it causes problems.

The bigger the commitment the better the odds of survival. If you are married or even engaged then the likelihood of sticking it out is much higher.
