Just wanted to get a sense of my odds for a top 20 school. Right now my plan is to apply to most of the top 20 schools in the northeast as well as Babson in Boston, and McCombs and SMU in Texas.
26 year old Asian american. Grew up in Texas but have lived in Boston for the past 3+ years.
Undergrad I was finance/premed from a top state school (McCombs undergrad business). I did terribly in all my biology classes and ended up with a 3.1 overall GPA. My business GPA is higher at around a 3.3.
I dropped my med school plan and now work in the Healthcare division of a fortune 30 tech company. I have a lot of interesting experience and stories having gone through 2 acquisitions (one from each side) as well as doing some work as a financial/business analyst, and now a senior analyst in sales operations.
I've been working for 3.5 years now and will be at 4 years when I apply. I know I can get strong recommendations from current and past managers.
Since graduation, I've also attended 3 graduate level classes at an Ivy extension school and have a 3.3 GPA there.
I'm taking the GMAT this weekend and have been testing between 720-740.
I have some recent community service and volunteer experience, but nothing significant.
I'm hoping to use my MBA for either M&A Finance or something healthcare/technology/entrepreneurial.
Just wanted to get a sense of how I stand and if someone with my profile has a shot. (I'm hoping for MIT-Sloan as my top choice)
