Hi guys, I'm aiming for H/S/W's MBA programs and I was wondering whether you think I'm in a good position or I have some clear weaknesses. I'm not too well informed on business school admissions. I'm currently in my third year of work exp. but will have four when I matriculate.

GMAT: 770 (51Q, 44V)
GPA: 3.85 from Princeton (Economics); Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude
Work experience(WE): Two years working in investment banking for a bulge bracket firm, two years of private equity (large middle-market firm) - both on the west coast
Nationality: Asian-American (ouch?)
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Extra-curriculars/community: Several leadership roles during undergrad (Director and Co-Founder of one business related club, VP of another business related club, Co-Founder and Managing Editor of a magazine, several volunteer roles - some of which took up quite a bit of time). Since them, I haven't had much time to volunteer since, well, investment banking took up everything I had. I still have some time though - any ideas for what I should pursue? I'm pretty interested in volunteerism and education, but not sure where I should look to demonstrate leadership potential.

Sorry for delay in reply.

I believe you are a perfect fit for the schools you are targeting, however I would suggest that your though your GMAT 770 helps you achieve the first step towards your admissions, do not ignore your other parts of admissions e.g. essays, reco etc

For top five US schools, I would suggest you to highlight your leadership potential in whatever form possible - be at work or at ECs. If you do not have anything to talk about leadership, you still have some time, take some initiative at work (even if it does not help you in appraisals) for a leadership experience and even initiatives at ECs with some SERIOUS exposure to leadership will also work for you.

Your targeted schools are hot favorites for so many talented professionals, so you will be competing with the peers with same talent. The success lies in "How you differentiate yourself with a same profile of yours - What extra do you have that will make adcom think choosing you out of two similar candidates with same skill sets ? " , and probably you will be the best person to answer this question, and the best way to answer this question is your ESSAYS.

I am sure that with your well rounded application and stellar GMAT, nothing should stop you getting in at the targeted schools.
