To start off, the schools I'm currently most interested in, by preference, are:
London Business School
Oxford
SP Jain
Harvard
UNC Chapel Hill
Now, about me:
I'm a 23-year-old American caucasian (will be 27 at start of B-School)
Undergrad Institution: United States Military Academy (West Point)
Undergrad GPA: 3.24 (ranged between 15 and 24 credit hours per semester, ranked just shy of 25th percentile in my class)
Undergrad Major: Mathematical Studies and Chinese Language
GMAT: 770 (51/44)
Work: Currently 14 months into a 5-year commitment as an infantry officer (plan on attending B-school starting fall 2016). Shortly I should be taking command of approximately 40 men and will be responsible for millions of dollars of equipment. This will be in Germany, and hopefully I will be deploying next year as well.
Extracurriculars: Currently not involved in any group-type extracurriculars. Im hoping as soon as I move abroad to pick up rugby or footy, but until then I mainly just enjoy running marathons/ultras by myself or traveling. I've been to 25 countries thus far. I plan on attempting to relearn Chinese (I've let it lapse the last couple years) as well as picking up German once I get to Germany.
My ideal school/job is one which is located abroad and is coupled with a truly global perspective.
Do I seem to be a strong candidate for these schools? More specifically, LBS? I do have a couple years until I can begin to apply, so if there are any improvements I can make, I'd be happy to hear them. Ive only taken the GMAT once, but I dont want to take it again because of the risk of lowering my score if I don't have to.
