I need inputs for my MBA profile evaluation.
While you reply to this post, please do mention if you are an admission consultant, a current mba aspirant, or mba graduate etc. this will help me understand the perspective.
Graduated from Tier 2 college.(One of the top colleges in Karnataka/Bangalore)
CGPA: 9.06
Branch: Computer science
Indian Male 33
Graduated year :2012
Worked as software engineer in small MNC(3 years, company shutdown), startup: Olacabs(3 years) and Amazon(3+ years). Impactful work.
Other ventures: Have done house construction for 2+years while working as a software engineer
Currently working on a startup idea with 4 people(1+ year). (still an unregistered company)
GMAT : not yet taken.. hoping to take by feb 10th.
Extra curricular: Dance(contemporary, Bollywood and tango), Traveling(did backpacking for 4 months in 5 countries, 2 Himalayan treks), Captain of a sports team in college. I do not have any certificate for any of these i suppose.
Ambition: MBA in General management or entrepreneurship. Preferably 1+ year program instead of 2 year although i am open to consider 2 year program. US or Europe.
I will targeting Sep 2024 intake. This means i am hoping for round 3 in most universities.
I do not have any much idea about the kind of universities my profile is suiting to. I am hoping to land in M7, T10 or T15 in USA or Top ones like LBS and INSEAD in Europe.
So my questions:
1. If I target 700 Old GMAT level equivalent score in Focus edition(655+) in this short amount of time, what kind of universities i should target to?
2. What are the scholarship scenes if i am applying for round 3 in universities?
3. How are the visa scenes if i am applying for round 3(especially for Indians)?
4. How can i further improve my profile in couple for months?
6. Any other comments/suggestions are also welcome.

Given the work ex- you are already above the average range of most of the Business schools in the USA.
I recommend looking at Eurpoean schools, British schools as well.
For the two schools you have mentioned target an equivalent of a 730 (old GMAT)

EU Schools are less stringent on GMAT but still push it to at least a 720 range to ensure you are in the top ones.
2. What are the scholarship scenes if i am applying for round 3 in universities?
Minimal- funds left are much less, might as well wait 4 months.
3. How are the visa scenes if i am applying for round 3(especially for Indians)?
Not a problem. While I am not allowed to give immigration advice but I can tell you that we had an option for emergency processing before we left.
4. How can i further improve my profile in couple for months?
GMAT- that is all you can do.
5. Any other comments/suggestions are also welcome.

I am just more curious on how you found time for a time consuming industry like construction when you were in another time consuming industry like IT.

vinays09 I am an MBA grad from INSEAD and an admissions consultant. I would like to be more pragmatic in my evaluation because I think it will help you eventually.
Your career has good evidence of progression, moving from a small MNC to a leading startup and then the tech giant Amazon. However, the sooner you recognize that you are in a very populous applicant pool and that you will be among the older applicants, the better prepared you will be to decide on the right course of action. With a 700-equivalent GMAT score, it's better to focus on schools in the T25-30 and maximize your chances of scholarships in the current economy. For Top 10 or T15 MBAs, you will likely not get interview calls in R3, but you can give it a shot and prepare accordingly for the next cycle.
1. Maybe try Olin Business School, Fischer and similar.
2. Hardly any.
3. As long as you have the admit, the school should be able to help and advise. Expect delays in visa if you get through in R3 but you may have to start attending classes online. Speaking from someone's experience.
4. If you can, improve your GMAT score to a 730+ level (old GMAT).
5. Look at alternate courses if you aim to work in tech in the US eventually. There are other great courses like Tepper Masters in Product Management and similar that have much smaller class sizes (about 50) and so a lot better focus goes into getting these students recruited. Also, age would be less of a concern.
