I applied to Wharton and Chicago in Winter ‘09. Will be reapplying to Wharton (w/ consultant). I really want to add some more schools, but need some help!
(1) 27 M, US
(2) Education:
― 3.3 GPA Double major in Math and Philosophy (overall and within majors) from UCLA
― 760 GMAT (50/44), 5.0 AWA
(3) WE:
― 1 year in legal services - law clerked for two firms, was planning on law school
― 2.5 years doing strategy (marketing and biz dev) for Hilton Worldwide, promoted from Analyst to Manager
― 1.5 years (at matriculation) working at a marketing agency doing digital and online marketing strategy and analysis for big clients (current title Sr. Analyst)
(4) Extracurriculars:
― Undergrad: content development for on-campus television show
― Now: grant researcher for a national non-profit; used to volunteer as an LSAT tutor (stopped after the Feb 2010 LSAT)
(5) Goals:
― Short-term post-MBA goal is to get into consulting – I want to broaden my skill set and get exposure to more industries.
― Long-term – business development potentially in manufacturing (my biggest client right now is Toyota, and I’m learning quite a bit about the industry). I need to reflect on my long term goals.
(6) Schools:
― Wharton – runaway #1 choice (and where my wife will be attending this fall)
― Stern
― …this is where I need help...

I think you have a pretty solid profile that as long as you can convey your messages across via the application and essays, you should have a shot (and you're also going to be working with a consultant, you should be fine). I'm going to take a stab here that you'd like to remain on the east coast simply because your wife is attending Wharton. Unfortunately, no other top schools are right next to Wharton (unlike Columbia and NYU), but there's tons of them on the east coast. For consulting, check out Tuck and Michigan, both aren't that far from Pittsburgh. Tuck is a great program, but accepts very little number of students. Michigan takes it a lot more, and is considered a bit easier to get in (than Tuck).
