I have a PhD in the life sciences and 5 years of experience as a scientist with my very large biotech company. My employer is willing to cover the cost of an MBA to the tune of $10,000 USD per year. I live in the Silicon Valley and would like to take advantage of the in-person (vs online) networking opportunities in the tech industry. My employer also offers a GLDprogram that I hope to take advantage of later and they are willing to switch me to a hybrid (technical/business) role in the meantime while I’m in school. My goal is to eventually move to a business role, obviously.
It seems that San Jose State’s Lucas MBA would fit the criteria. The part-time evening 3 year option let’s me finish the degree at no cost to me out-of-pocket, I keep my day job and I’ll get the in-person classroom experience. However, it’s a very low rank school. But does that really matter in my case when I have a higher degree and wish to remain with my employer? I feel conflicted with the low rank.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
