Hi.
I'm graduating from an engineering college in India in 2019. I'm pursuing a dual degree in Mechanical Engg. and Economics, because of which I have a decent finance background with some other business courses I've studied as electives in the past 4 years. I have the next one year free for internships. I may have a background in finance, but don't see myself working in this sector in the long term . If I do indeed intern at a finance firm now, and land a job over there, how difficult will it be for me to get a non-finance role, say, consulting or general management 2-3 years later, or post an MBA degree? The other option is to take up a marketing/analyst internship and land a job over there, and use that as a relevant pre-mba workex for post mba jobs. I'm considering finance initially because of the big brands and big money involved. So, in short, how difficult is it to make a career switch from finance to non-finance managerial role? And how much does pre-mba work ex play a part in your post mba jobs?
Thanks.
