I’m an Indian engineer working as a Prod Dev Manager in a multinational Consumer Goods company. I plan to pursue an MBA in the States to switch to Consulting or Tech Prod Management. I have strong acads and a good UG institute. I plan to give the GRE, aiming for a score north of 330. Additionally, I have also taken up a couple of added responsibilities apart from my current responsibilities, which should strengthen my application.
I have a few questions, though:
1) How reasonable/likely is it to shift into Tech post-MBA, given that my previous workex is not IT-related? Keep in mind that I am targeting Tech and Consult mostly because they suit my interests much more than Fin and also are more likely to fetch me an H1B (loans!)
2) Should I try to look for a job switch (say, to a Consulting firm) before my MBA? I still have nearly 2 years before I plan to go for MBA. Will a Consulting experience be considered better instead of my present role, keeping in mind my post-MBA goals?
